Alexandra Green

Hi there! I'm Alex. Let's talk about design for performance.

Who I am

Just call me Alex! I'm a Baltimore native who is passionate about design, psychology, culture, and social good. I've also been told I was a comedian in another life. Welcome to my ePortfolio! I'm thrilled to (virtually) meet you.

In 2018 I completed my Master's of Science degree in Consumer & Design Sciences at Auburn University, where I studied consumer behavior with a focus on how customers psychologically react to the design of a product. I also explored how combinations of specific visual cues influence brand personality perceptions.

In the iconic ad campaign for Nike Air Jordan in the '80s, Mars Blackmon badgers Mike because he believes "it's gotta be the shoes." This was the inspiration behind my graduate research. Is it really true that "when you look good, you play good"? Can we link the design of our shoes to improving our athletic performance? Turns out, this might actually be the case!

Below are some examples of my experience and research:

  • Basketball shoe product design and perceived performance enablement

  • Design elements influencing consumer delight

  • Kansei engineering methods for design

  • Plus-size women's activewear design preferences

  • Brand personality perceptions through visual cues in brand generated content

  • Enclothed cognition

  • Consumer decision-making with online intelligent agents

  • Wearable technology

Alex holds an exceptional degree of professional promise, which stems from a unique combination of her ‘leadership’ personality, self-confidence, and academic and professional achievement. When completed, I am certain that [her] research...will make significant contributions to the literature in the areas of product aesthetics, performance, and consumer behavior.
— Dr. Veena Chattaraman, Human Sciences Professor & Graduate Program Officer, Auburn University.
In the 20+ years I have been involved in higher education, I can say without a doubt, hands down, that Alex is the best graduate teaching associate that I have ever worked with. She is the all-round graduate student. She has excellent research, presentation and teaching skills. In addition, she has superb people skills with the ability to set distinct boundaries between instructor and student in very professional manner. If she is an example of our future graduate students, our profession is in great hands!
— Dr. Ann Beth Presley, Associate Professor, Auburn University.
Literally THE BEST TA Auburn has. Super sweet and helpful, makes the class very enjoyable. Willing to help students when it’s necessary- would definitely love to have you as a future TA or even a teacher.

Alex is literally amazing. She has a very fun personality and easy to approach if you are having any troubles, questions, or unbearable amounts of stress that you just need to get off of your chest. She’s always offering up Cheetos and lame jokes (that are actually pretty awesome). While being pleasant, she can also be strict when people try to run her over. She very much so goes by the rules in the syllabus and believes in hard work because this is college and we have to follow rules and be accountable. She’s the highlight of this class for me and I would highly recommend her to anyone. Kinda going to miss her next semester!
